Aspect Property Manager - System Requirements

The Aspect Property Manager requires a Microsoft Windows operating system and runs on both Vista and Windows7. There are no special requirements beyond the standard Windows recommendations, but like most Windows programs, the faster the machine and the more memory you have the better the performance.

In general we suggest the mimimum memory to be 1Gb or better and recommend anyone to install the maximum memory the computer will take. This is particularly so when purchasing new equipemnt when the marginal cost is small, not so much for the Aspect Property Manager but to cope with all the "hidden" Windows tasks which impact overall system performance.

When more memory is added you should alter the system page file size too as this is often a performance bottleneck. We recommend not letting Windows manage the page file but set the size manually using the rule of thumb of making the minimum page file size equal to your memory and the maximum equal to at least one and a half times the memory size.

Vista and Windows7 both have minor display anomalies between the different versions which are covered in the Help menu > Introduction topic.

We strongly recommend your system has a CD/DVD-writer. Its only use, as far as the Aspect Property Manager goes, is as a backup device and it is certainly not essential, as any disk device is suitable. The CD/DVD is just a reasonably fast, secure and very economical backup medium. We do not recommend using USB "memory sticks" as being a safe backup device.

You must have internet access, and you wouldn't be here without it now would you, and email is essential.

A laser, ink, or bubble jet printer is needed - dot matrix is a no-no.

If you wish to have images or photographs attached to landlords, properties tenants and suppliers you will need a digital camera and/or suitable scanner and photo processing software.

Multi-user Environments
In a multi-user environment the Aspect Property Manager should reside on the biggest/fastest computer in your network because it acts as the database server for all property manager users. With low terminal counts and/or a small rent roll a well configured PC can act as both a general use PC and the database server as well. However, with large rent rolls, high terminal counts you should consider installing the Aspect Property Manager client/server software and possibly having a dedicated file server.

If you do have a multi-user requirement we recommend you try peer-to-peer first as it may well meet your needs, particularly where high speed LANs are installed. For more information see the Pricing page.
